The 8th Alabama Company "I" (The Emerald Guard) was formed in Mobile, Alabama. Its ranks were composed mostly of Irish immigrants, 104 of 109 to be exact. The 8th Alabama was the first Alabama regiment to enlist in the Confederate army. The Emerald Guard fought in almost every major conflict of the "War Between the States", including Seven Pines, Williamsburg, and Gettysburg.

The "boys" of the 8th Alabama proudly represent our American heritage. We are dedicated to educating the public by doing demonstrations and mock Civil War battles. Civil War reenacting is a great hobby for all members of the family.
